My 3 favorite Cactus League Stadiums East Valley

Diablo Stadium – Home of the Los Angeles Angels –                                2200 W. Alameda Dr.,  Tempe, AZ 85282

Tempe Diablo Stadium with map and Angels link

Sits right next to 2 picturesque Buttes that are part of a 25 acre Historic Landmark and currently home to Phoenix Marriott Tempe at the Buttes.   Features a nice grass seating area in Left Field and large porch concession areas along both outfield foul lines.  Usually pretty easy to park in the Industrial park streets nearby on southside.  Annually they cook out on the grills in the concession areas and always seem to have plenty of beer stands and a good variety of flavors to choose from.  Not a bad seat in the place and Angels fans are pretty easy to deal with, so it is ideal if you want to come early and watch batting practice, try for autographs, or just get a tan.  It was the Mariners home before but that changed in 1993.

Salt River Fields at Talking Stick

Salt River Fields – Diamondbacks & Rockies

7555 North Pima Road, Scottsdale, Arizona 85258

This is one of the newest ‘state of the art’ baseball training facilities in the US.   Owned and operated by the Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.  Great sight lines, 2 big grass outfield seating areas, good local concessions, including San Gria!, upscale bar, nice little walkway around the concourse.  It is really a must see for where this Spring Training experience is going and you get to walk by Batting and Pitching cages used by players on your way into the ball park.

Scottsdale Stadium – Home of the San Francisco Giants

Scottsdale Stadium with Stadium map and Giants link

7408 E. Osborn Road,  Scottsdale, AZ 85251

This is the vintage Cactus League experience and is also just a walk from Downtown Scottsdale area bars and restaurants and shops.  2 Nice grass seating areas in the outfield, one right above the bullpen used during the games.  They have decent concessions run by volunteers, and usually good beer selection. The people watching is really good at these games between the Scottsdale crowd and Giants fans.  This is one of the few left that has some history in it.
